The TOEIC program consists of four tests: the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test, the TOEIC® Speaking test, the TOEIC Writing test, and the TOEIC Bridge test.

2. Who takes the TOEIC tests and why
Nonnative English speakers take the tests to demonstrate English proficiency when applying for new positions and obtaining credentials.

3. Who uses the TOEIC tests and why?
The tests are widely accepted by corporations, English-language programs and government agencies around the world.

  • Corporations use the TOEIC tests to document progress in English training programs, recruit and promote employees and put standard measurements in place across locations.
  • English-language programs use them to place students at the right learning levels, and show student progress and program effectiveness
  • Government agencies use them to document progress in English-language courses, and to recruit, promote and hire employees. They also often use the TOEIC tests for the evaluation of teachers in their educational system as well as volunteers for major events that take place within their areas.

 4. What is the content of the TOEIC tests?
TOEIC test questions are based on real-life situations that are relevant to global organizations. Test content is developed from real examples of spoken and written English collected from around the world.

5. How does using the TOEIC tests help businesses?
As a fair and objective measure of English proficiency, the TOEIC tests will enable businesses to evaluate their employees' ability to:

  • Verify their current level of English proficiency
  • English-language programs use them to place students at the right learning levels, and show student progress and program effectiveness
  • Qualify for a new position and/or promotion in an organization

Price varies. Please contact your China TOEIC Representative.

7. How long does it take to receive TOEIC scores?
Please contact your China TOEIC Representative for more information.

8. Why are TOEIC test scores only valid for 2 years?
Score Validity
Scores are used to measure a test taker's English proficiency at the time that a test is administered. Because English-language skills may improve or decline over time, a score report will not be re-issued if two years have passed since taking the test. ETS does not require testing centers to retain test administration data beyond two years.
